Winter’s coming and soon, most of us will be spending a lot more time indoors. Here are some ideas for looking luscious while lounging!
This was Mlle’s second Halloween. Her first was spent hiding away in a friend’s Upper Westside apartment waiting for the lights to come back on below 14th street after Super Storm Sandy (which took about a week for our neighborhood!). This year, the weather was much more conducive to All Hallow’s Eve festivities – in fact, it was almost too warm in the unseasonal mid-high 60s.
As you can see, we dressed her like a proper chef and took part in the NYU 23rd Annual Halloween Children’s Parade. The parade is a walk around Washington Square Park and ends at a street fair with games and treats for everyone. It was a lot of fun as I haven’t really participated in anything Halloween related since I was a kid. There were tons of other proud parents snappping pics of their costumed kiddies so it was really great to get a few compliments from the crowd for the Mlle. My mother, who is a fantastic seamstress, whipped up the jacket and hat. I had the most wonderful and elaborate costumes as a child and I was so pleased that my mom offered to make something for Mlle. Left to my own devices, Mlle may just end up like this next year.
Mlle is still a little young for most of the activities but we took a spin on the carousel and then hurried back home after because we wanted to beat the crowds that descend upon the West Village for the grown-up Halloween parade. Here’s some sights of the city getting prepared:
In front of my building, this was happening:
It seems someone famous was taking her brood trick-or-treating. I didn’t bother to look who it was – I never recognize them anyway. However, I snapped pics of the paps because I love the idea that celebs are my neighbors and walk down my street! I hear Hugh Jackman goes running shirtless around here – if ever I saw him doing so, I clearly didn’t recognize him.
Hope you had a happy Halloween too!
Ghost still from “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!”
Speaking of black actresses taking the lead: I am freaking obsessed with Sleepy Hollow!
